RR Psalm 37:18,19 Part 12
Shalom,
Psalm 37:18 Adonai knows the days of the blameless—their inheritance endures forever. 19 They will not be ashamed in an evil time and in days of famine they will be satisfied.
Here, God promises the “blameless” and eternal inheritance. The only problem is that none of us is “blameless,” no - not one. The Hebrew word that is translated as “blameless” is derived from “Tamim,” meaning eternally pure. It is a word that describes us as we arise from the waters of baptism. It is the same word spoken to our father, Abraham.
Genesis 17:1 When Abram was 99 years old, Adonai appeared to Abram, and He said to him, “I am El Shaddai. Continually walk before Me and you will be blameless.
Yeshua’s eternal cleanliness comes upon us through faith, and not through works. Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not from yourselves—it is the gift of God. 9 It is not based on deeds, so that no one may boast. But wait, before you go sliding into eternity with a misconception of the basis of righteousness (which is found in obedience to God’s word), please read the next verse with me.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship—created in Messiah Yeshua for good deeds, which God prepared beforehand so we might walk in them.
These “good deeds” are not made of thin air, but are found in the written word of God. They are His righteous commandments. 1John 2:3 Now we know that we have come to know Him by this—if we keep His commandments. 4 The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God is truly made perfect. We know that we are in Him by this— 6 whoever claims to abide in Him must walk just as He walked.
This is the “bread” of which Yeshua was speaking…. John 4:32 But He said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” So that we might be satisfied in days of famine. John 6:35 Yeshua said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in Me will never be thirsty.”
Only God’s provision for His people truly satisfies. Philippians 4:19 My God will fulfill every need of yours according to the riches of His glory in Messiah Yeshua. Shalom shalom.
