RR Psalm 45:10(9) Part 8
Shalom,
Psalm 45:10 Kings’ daughters are among your honored women. At your right hand stands the queen in gold of Ophir.
Wow! I got so carried away yesterday that I forgot to mention that the three spices, myrrh, aloes, and cassia all have names taken from their Hebrew origins, respectively, “Mor, Ahalot, and Q’tziyot.” The psalmist is describing something sanctified and holy which is about to take place. And what a place it is, ivory palaces meant to indicate the residence of the King. The aroma is sacred, and so is the music. It is all designed for gladness.
As the description of this celebration unfolds, we are immediately introduced to the “kings’ daughters” who are valuable (Yaqar). The “Topical Lexicon” says of “Yaqar”… “The term gathers ideas such as preciousness, rarity, costliness, splendor, and honor. Because Scripture never divorces value from God’s character, every occurrence ultimately traces back to the worth He ascribes or embodies.”
Remember, this is poetry. The language used is symbolically descriptive. Who are the daughters and who is the queen? Some commentators have identified the queen as Israel, who will only be saved completely after the fullness of the nations come in. These are daughters coming from many nations (kings). They are WITH a queen (at the right hand of God). This “queen” is the saved remnant of Israel. Romans 11:25 For I do not want you, brothers and sisters, to be ignorant of this mystery—lest you be wise in your own eyes—that a partial hardening has come upon Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.
Rabbi Trail: This discussion of “plural kings” made me think of our God, Whose names are Elohim and Adonai, both plural names. There is One God, Who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The “3 in 1” nature of God has largely been rejected by Judaism. Lord, would you open blind eyes. All three are actually mentioned in the same verse by the Jewish prophet Isaiah…. Isaiah 48:16 “Draw near to Me, hear this: Since the beginning, I have not spoken in secret. From the time it existed, I was there. So now Adonai Elohim has sent Me, and His Ruach.”
Isaiah is speaking prophetically, in the first person, on behalf of Yeshua, Who has been sent by God the Father. John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us. We looked upon His glory, the glory of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth. Now let’s look how Isaiah starts that section of chapter 48…. Isaiah 48:12 Listen to Me, Jacob, Israel whom I called: I am He; I am the first; I am also the last. Who is known as “the Alpha and the Omega?” Revelation 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says Adonai Elohim, “Who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty!” End RT.
Let’s pick this up again tomorrow. Shalom shalom.
