Psalm 28:9 – Part 15

Shalom,

Psalm 28:9 Save Your people, bless Your inheritance, shepherd them and carry them forever.

The closing Hebrew phrase to Psalm 28 is “V’Nas’em Ad-HaOlam,” meaning “And lift them up until eternity.”  Let’s meditate on the implications of that action.  King David is closing the Psalm with a salvo of declarations to God, as he implores The Almighty to save, bless, shepherd and finally lift up, His people, His inheritance, and His sheep for all eternity.

“Olam” is literally, the “Universe.”  What is the Universe, but eternity in space.  Typically, we measure space in time units called “light years.”  Even a year, per se, is the TIME it takes the earth to TRAVEL completely around the sun.  We call it a year.  Somehow, God seems bigger than time.  Perhaps the laws of physics don’t apply to Him.  These are subjects for greater minds than mine.

God is holding you and me in the palm of His hand.  When we receive Yeshua as our Lord and Savior, He lifts us up to heaven with the announcement, “This one is mine forever!”  If you’re reading this, speak Yeshua’s words aloud…

John 10:27 “My sheep hear My voice. I know them, and they follow Me. 28 I give them eternal life! They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all. And no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”

Those words sounded blasphemous to the Judean leaders who first heard them.  Yet, by grace, we are able to receive these words as consistent with the Hebrew Scriptures.

Rabbi Trail:  Hebrew liturgy is filled with the phrase “our Father” when calling upon God.  Yeshua violated the sensitivities of the Judean leaders by saying “My Father.”  Yeshua is the One, prayed for, long sought after, and earnestly expected.  Sadly, most missed the day of their visitation.  It is too late for them, but not for you.  Receive His call on your life today, and give thanks.  End RT.

Most scholars want to use Isaiah chapter 53 as a proof text of Messianic prophecy, and it is.  I prefer Isaiah chapter 42 for such a purpose.

Isaiah 42:21 The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honorable.  KJV

In Yeshua’s words… Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I came to abolish the Torah or the Prophets! I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. 18 Amen, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or serif shall ever pass away from the Torah until all things come to pass.”

More good news… all things have not yet come to pass.  Yeshua is still on His throne, but soon He will return.  Are you ready?  Getting ready is easy.  Invite Him into your heart, and forsake the ways of this world.  Deuteronomy 6:5 Love Adonai your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.  Shalom shalom.
