Psalm 28:6 – Part 6

Psalm 28:6 Blessed be Adonai, because He has heard the sound of my supplications.

Would you say that King David is a good writer?  Yes, he is masterful, and his abilities are on full display in this Psalm!  There are nine short sentences in which David reveals his heart.  In the first five verses, David exhorts God directly first for deliverance followed by a request for judgment on his enemies.  Then, verse 6 is pivotal, in which he offers thanks to God in the form of blessing, and he tells us why.  Because God has heard the voice of his heartfelt plea.

When God hears, it is interactive.  This is not just the sound of words reaching the ears of God, this is God being moved by compassion to answer this heart cry.  Psalm 145 is prominently featured in Hebrew liturgy (called the “Ashre” prayer).

Psalm 145:18 Adonai is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. 19 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him. He will hear their cry and save them.

John affirms this…

1John 5:14 Now this is the confidence we have before Him—that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have the requests we have asked from Him.

If we pray and are not being answered there is a problem, and the problem is not with God.  His hearing is perfect (along with everything else).

Jacob 4:3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives so you may spend it on your passions.

God is not mocked.  We can’t tell Him anything He doesn’t already know.  Therefore; we must purify our hearts to serve Him in truth.  This was spoken to Solomon, but we must receive it as if it were spoken directly to us personally.

1Chronicles 28:9 “Now you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve Him with a whole heart and with a willing mind; for Adonai searches all hearts and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you. But if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.  Shalom shalom.
