Psalm 32:9 – Part 10
Psalm 32:9 Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding, and must be held in with bit and bridle or they will not come to you.”
With God, everything is “A Heart THANG!” God knows that if our hearts are right, everything else will line up perfectly. Matthew 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” In our subject verse, God is telling us to have some “understanding.” However; with God, our understanding is not “head” knowledge. Knowing God intimately requires a heartfelt covenant commitment which exceeds anything else we will ever know. Read Eitan Shishkoff’s book, “With All Your Heart.”

Many mistakes are made when people try to avoid “head or brain” understanding. To “know” God in your head is not bad, just don’t stop there. Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything—but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the shalom of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Messiah Yeshua. Notice the “Shalom of God” is inclusive of both hearts and minds.
Furthermore; the “Shalom of God” is the fruit of a right heart relationship with God. Therefore; it “surpasses all understanding.” We pray… Psalm 51:12(10) Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. And God answers… Ezekiel 36:26 Moreover I will give you a new heart. I will put a new spirit within you. I will remove the stony heart from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. God wants us to come to Him willingly, not being led around like with “rings in our noses,” but out of a passionate heart desire to be with Him. Many verses of Scripture speak to this….
Psalm 27:4 One thing have I asked of Adonai, that will I seek: to dwell in the House of Adonai all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of Adonai, and to meditate in His Temple.
Psalm 42:2 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for You, O God. 3 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When will I come and appear before God?
And we’ll get the last word for today from the Shema… Deuteronomy 6:5 Love Adonai your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These words, which I am commanding you today, are to be on your heart. Shalom shalom.
