RR Psalm 37:32,33 Part 20
(Early) Shabbat Shalom,
Psalm 37:32 The wicked lies in wait for the righteous, seeking to slay him. 33 But Adonai will not leave him in his hand, or let him be condemned when judged.
The Israelis have borrowed a word from English which seems appropriate to describe how Adonai, in these two verses, “protects” the righteous. The borrowed word is now the Hebrew word, “Protectsia.” It is also known colloquially as “Veetamin P.” Usually it describes a situation when your bosses boss (or someone high up in the organizational chart) has told his/her subordinates not to find any fault in you. This is what Adonai has done for the righteous. He has told the wicked, “Hands off, this one is Mine.”
Aren’t you glad the words “But Adonai” are in the Bible? The real question we all need to answer is, how do we become one of the righteous of Adonai? This is a valid question because Scripture is clear, that we have no righteousness in ourselves.
Isaiah 64:5(6) For all of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteousness is like a filthy garment, and all of us wither like a leaf, and our iniquities carry us away, like the wind.
Therefore; we must come under the authority of THE SAVIOR, Who gave Himself for us. Isaiah 61:10 I will rejoice greatly in Adonai. My soul will be joyful in my God. For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me in a robe of righteousness—like a bridegroom wearing a priestly turban, like a bride adorning herself with her jewels.
Rabbi Trail: Paul wrote three chapters of Romans (9, 10 and 11) as a treatise on Messianic Judaism. This detailed explanation of Messianic Judaism is like the meat of a sandwich. The previous 3 chapters (6, 7 and 8), as well as the following 3 chapters (12, 13 and 14) are the “bread” of righteous living in accordance with the commandments of God.
Right in the middle of all of these 9 chapters is one verse that needs some unpacking. Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believes. NKJV Many expositors have given the interpretation that this proves the law is ended by Messiah when the truth is exactly the opposite. Messiah is the “logical conclusion” (not the END) of the law. Isaiah 42:21 Adonai was pleased, for the sake of His righteousness, to make Torah great and glorious. End RT.
When we believe on Him, we turn our lives over to His authority and live according to His commandments. 1John 2:6 whoever claims to abide in Him must walk just as He walked. Only then do we come under His protection. 1John 3:6 No one who abides in Him keeps on sinning; no one who sins has seen Him or known Him. 7 Children, let no one mislead you! The one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as Yeshua is righteous. Shalom shalom.
